Type Locality and Naming

Yunnan District Investigation Team (1983) named it after the typical section in Wangqika village, 2 km north of Zhongdian County (now called "Shangri-La" County), Yunnan Province.

Lithology and Thickness

Mudstone and argillaceous limestone, mainly divided into three parts: Lower part is yellow-green mudstone with argillaceous limestone, with 181 m thick. Middle part is mainly argillaceous limestone or nodular argillaceous limestone and mudstone interbedded, with 354 m thick. Upper part is mainly lithic sandstone with mudstone, with thickness of 276 m.

Fossils

Mainly bivalves, with Halobia pluriradiata, brachiopods and gastropods in the lower part; Costatoria inaequicostata, C. goldfussi, Unionites sp. etc. in the middle part; Halobia superba and Costatoria goldfussi in the upper part.
